Shriyam

श्रियं वासय मे कुले
“Let prosperity dwell in my family” — Sri Suktam, Rigveda
Design Language · v1.0 · August 2026

Essence

Shriyam should feel like a temple at dusk — deep, warm, quiet, and golden. Professional means restraint: rich color used generously, ornament used sparingly, and authenticity carried by correctness (muhurta, sankalpa, tradition) rather than decoration. The north star: Calm-app serenity meets temple-at-aarti warmth.

Color

One dominant family (maroon), one warm field (cream/sand), one sacred accent (saffron), one precious detail (gold). Dark maroon screens open and close the journey (home, confirmation — the “sanctum” moments); cream screens carry tasks (forms, slots, checkout).

Typography — the divine voice

Three voices, each with one job. No other fonts, ever. (Oxanium remains the Sunray Inova corporate face; it does not appear in the Shriyam product.)

Display · Cormorant Garamond 600 — “the temple voice”
Your seva is confirmed, Namaste
Headlines, screen titles, prices, confirmation moments. Elegant high-contrast serif — devotional without costume. Use 600 for titles, italic 500 for grace notes. Never below 20px (its fine strokes need size). Tight leading (1.05–1.15).
Sacred · Eczar — “the Sanskrit voice”
ॐ · श्रियं वासय मे कुले · वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय
Every Devanagari character — shlokas, Om, deity names — and nothing else. Eczar was designed (Indian Type Foundry) so Devanagari and Latin share one voice; its Latin may be used only for the transliteration line directly under a shloka. One shloka per screen, always with translation.
Interface · Inter — “the humble servant”
Choose a muhurta-aligned time for your family's Vinayaka Chavithi pooja. All times shown in your local timezone. Your priest will be matched to your language and tradition.
All body text, forms, buttons, labels, navigation. Weights 400/500/600 only. Buttons and section labels: 600, uppercase, letter-spacing 0.14–0.22em. Base size 15–16px; elders are a core audience — never below 13px, and support OS text scaling.

Motif & ornament

One signature motif, used everywhere, and almost nothing else: the kolam line — a single-pixel gold thread with a diamond dot, echoing the threshold patterns drawn outside Indian homes. It divides sections, underlines the sacred, and frames cards (inner hairline inset 8px). Beyond it: the Om in saffron, a diya flame for confirmation moments, and at most a whisper-faint mandala watermark (≤4% opacity) on sanctum screens. No deity photographs in UI chrome — deities belong to the devotee's altar, not our buttons.

Vinayaka Chavithi Pooja

Live 1:1 · 60 minutes · your family's sankalpa — the gold inner hairline is the kolam frame; note the restraint.

Do & Don't

Always

  • Dark sanctum screens for arrival & confirmation; cream for tasks
  • Muhurta slots visually honored (saffron ✦) — authenticity is the brand
  • One shloka per screen max, always translated
  • Generous whitespace; 20px+ padding inside cards
  • Elder-friendly: 15px+ body, high contrast, large touch targets (48px)
  • Sanskrit terms kept and gently glossed: sankalpa, gotra (your family lineage name)

Never

  • Deity clip-art, god images in buttons/icons, rainbow gradients
  • More than one ornament per view (kolam OR mandala, not both)
  • Marigold-orange walls of color — saffron is an accent, not a fill
  • Urgency-commerce patterns: countdown pressure, “Only 3 left!!”, discount confetti
  • Fake Sanskrit or decorative Devanagari that means nothing
  • Oxanium or any techno/display font inside the product
